What was new, is newer! It’s 2024 and the California legislature has had another banner year – building on recently-enacted laws to expand their coverage and scope, and coming up with a few completely novel ways to regulate the workplace here in the Golden State. This host of new labor and employment laws, most of which become effective on January 1, 2024, will continue to create compliance challenges for California businesses. Please join us for our annual round up of new California employment laws, which will include not only a review of the substance of each new law but will also offer practical suggestions for compliance. Topics included are marijuana in the workplace, paid sick leave, retaliation claims by ‘default’, workplace violence, and new leaves of absence laws.
