SCGMA YPG Event Recap – C. R. Laurence Tour

On Wednesday, June 26, CRL opened its doors to our young professionals group for an insightful tour of their manufacturing facility in Vernon, CA. Led by Mark Suehiro, Director of Architectural Hardware and Entrances at CRL, the tour provided a unique opportunity to explore their renowned door hardware and glass handrail systems. Participants gained firsthand insights into CRL’s meticulous manufacturing processes, experiencing a variety of products including custom doors, handrails, Blumcraft, Entice, Transaction and more. The event commenced with a PPE safety presentation followed by demonstrations from Mark on different door types, their functionality, and glass integration. Discussions then delved into logistics, covering CRL’s shipment process, delivery schedules, and change order management.

Attendees were also briefed on CRL’s coloring processes for finishes, welding techniques for railing systems, and their rigorous quality control measures. Innovative technologies like monolithic glass formulas and the Prolific system were showcased, along with practical sales strategies aimed at offering efficient, safer products to contractors and architects. With approximately 250 employees at CRL’s manufacturing site daily, the tour underscored CRL’s scale and commitment to quality assurance, leaving participants with a comprehensive understanding of CRL’s leadership and dedication to innovation.

Overall, the CRL site tour provided a thorough overview of their innovative solutions and manufacturing processes. Participants left with a deeper appreciation of CRL’s commitment to quality, safety, and technological advancement in the industry. We would like to express a special thanks to Mark Suehiro and the entire CRL team for hosting such a memorable and informative event.
